Faux Vinyl Door Numbers

You don’t necessarily have to own a vinyl cutter to create your own lettering for projects such as door numbers.
I created CUTE numbers for my door with
PAPER and MODGE PODGE!!!

Yeppers…that’s right…plain 'ol paper and Modge Podge. EASIE PEASIE!
Check it out!

Using WORD or another word processor program…print out your desired text or numbers in a light gray color. The light gray color allows for easier cutting! You could also use a darker color if you will be placing your text or numbers on a light background.


Grab your scissors (the sharper the better) and start cutting!!!


Next, dab Modge Podge on the back of each number or letter to place on desired object. **NOTE: I used painting tape to create a STRAIGHT line to work with. I tend to get a tad whopper-jarred with things like this!**

After attaching and aligning my numbers I started MODGING away! I applied two coats just to seal the deal and prevent wear from the weather and sun!
FA REEEEEELZ! You gotta love this!!!

Vintage Window Dry Erase Board

I’ve had this vintage window for at least two years. I picked it up at our local community “Trades Days” from a favorite vendor. It has been all over my house…sometimes on display and others tucked away in storage collecting dust. The other day I saw a BRILLIANT idea for using old windows! HOLY MOLY! It’s perfecto!!

Step 1:
I glued tissue paper to the back side of the window. You could also use fabric. Make sure that it is light so that reading your scribbles is easy!!
Step 2:
Next I added some ribbon to trim out the writing area. I used hot glue to attach the ribbon.


Step 3:
I had a few small tin cans that I saved for projects. I wrapped ribbon around the can to jazz it up a bit. Then I tried to hammer the darn thing to the window, but that was WAY TOO frustrating. I busted out the hot glue and slapped that bad boy on!

I am totally loving this little doo-dah.

"Junking" Mirror Treasure

The other day my Madre and I went junkin’ at the local SA. We found so many treasures that I could barely breathe. I’m slowly working on all of them which included a mirror, outdoor chair set and a VERY groovy dresser.
I haven’t had much time for SPRAY PAINT FUN with all of my BABY SHOWER CRAFTY FUN, but tonight I busted out a can of white paint and went to town.

I started with this….

Ain’t she purdy! Plastic gold is so FAB!
I slapped on some blue tape and scrunched some foil and we were ready to PAINT!






And then…..

It’s purdy-ful! LOVE IT! Never underestimate the power of SPRAY PAINT!

Mad Scientist…..

Just 2 more days until Lorie's shower! And I can finally show her all the goodies I've been working on! Keeping all of these projects on the DL is soooooo hard!!! We never KEEP SECRETS. If we have a gift for each other...be guaranteed there's no waiting until Birthdays or Christmas times to give it away! We can never wait! So this has really been killing me! Everything is decorated....and now we just have to pass the time until Saturday!!! In the mean time...this is how my table looked while I was working on the projects.

 

 

Talk about a MESS! I'm like a mad scientist!! I've always envied those who could work on an artistic endeavor and keep things neat and clean.

I spent all day today cleaning my much neglected house...whew...there's nothing as satisfying as a clean house...even if it only lasts a few minutes!!!

I can't wait to post all my pics of the projects as well! They turned out pretty sweet!

The sweetest video...

I saw this video on a few of my FAVORITE girls' blogs...and as I watched it...I just cried my eyes out. Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in the small, meaningless problems and frustrations in life...and we forget what is truly important. Hugging our babies, laughing with our families, sunshine on our skin and God's love. Although I am a different religion, this video touched my heart and made me slow down and realize just how beautiful my little life is.

Cute Modge Podge Mother’s Day Gift…

My SIL came over and we made these sweet, cute canisters for our MIL. She bought the set at Hobby Lobby (50% off this week) and printed random pics of all the grand-babies to use.

We glued each pic with Modge Podge...and then went over each canister with a few layers to seal and protect.

They are soooo dang cute!  You could also paint labels such as "Flour, Sugar or Tea" and my SIL even thought about labeling them "Cookies, Candy and Kisses." And maybe even some POLKA DOTS! There are so many ways to personalize a project like this! This is an easy project…and a great Mother's day gift! Especially for "Grandmother" Mother's Day gifts!!
